B...Adam, nice report and great job in the marathon.
Back in the day I could "easily" run sub 2:50, but as many times as I tried, I just couldn't get under 2:45. When I tried I ended up puking on the side of the road. I remember one race in particular my 20 mile split was 1:55 and I started thinking "Yes, I got it this time!". 2 miles later I was puking and walked/jogged it in in 2:55.
Keep trying, but sometime we reach our limit and it is what it is...if that didn't happen, we'd all be running 2:03!
On my present experience, after 15 years of ultras and just slogging through my training I entered a marathon on a whim in El Paso and jogged in a 4:42, a total embarrassment. I'm now working in my 5K speed, building from the ground up with a hope of a 3:30 someday. Maybe not this year, but I'll keep trying.
Keep up the speed, I didn't and paid for it!Steve Perohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06233567281691642089noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1610194828184106097.post-26172067521564117242014-05-09T09:55:47.091-04:002014-05-09T09:55:47.091-04:00Great write-up. I was going to do one this spring but chickened out and opted for a laid-back 50k instead (that shouldn't even make sense but it does.)

Anyway, great job on the PR and it sounds like you know exactly what you need to do to set another big PR.Rhody Sethhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02599153858382047195noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1610194828184106097.post-69698622469732388442014-05-09T07:09:48.895-04:002014-05-09T07:09:48.895-04:00Ha! Then I took it apart again thinking I'd just take a few days to fix some things. It's still on jackstands a month later. A metaphor for running or life or some shit like that.Adam Wilcoxhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13987969125268981297noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1610194828184106097.post-29504338050282503912014-05-09T06:35:51.690-04:002014-05-09T06:35:51.690-04:00I had to check a few times to make sure I wasn'...I had to check a few times to make sure I wasn't reading my own blog! You've described almost perfectly my most recent experience (Smuttynose in October 2013). Daniels really is the best.
Nice job!

Now that you've "easily" gotten a sub 3 marathon out of the way you can go back to focusing on building miatas from scratch, right?
Muddy Puddin'https://www.blogger.com/profile/10939418950714665579noreply@blogger.com
